Wang, Shaoqing's design draws its inspiration from a local legend about a mythical creature, the Kirin, that brought peace to the area. The building, standing like a piece of artwork in the middle of the wetland, is a tribute to this legend. Its smooth and sleek structure integrates perfectly into the landscape, embodying the "poetic poetry" that the designer aimed to express.
The building's unique properties lie in its location and design. Built on the wetland, it achieves a symbiotic relationship with nature. The design uses the art form of natural growth, spiraling upwards, and dividing the whole space with an enveloping descent, bringing infinite artistic tension. The open space design is at the forefront of contemporary art, with a star-shaped artistic projection device that projects Van Gogh's starry sky, symbolizing the yearning for life.
Creating this tranquil urban oasis required careful consideration of the wetland's geographical attributes. The design interaction is centered around providing a quiet place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, surrounded by the calmness of the wood, the scent of the ink of the book, and the mellowness of the coffee. Through the glass curtain wall, the top art device and the reeds on the lake create a wonderful sense of drama, forming an artistic painting.
Located in NingHe District, Tianjing, China, this project was completed in 2018. The design research focused on the value of wetlands, known as the earth's kidneys. For a city, wetlands are not just an ecosystem, but a cover for a city's livable image. Vanke Town hopes to continue this beautiful meaning with the huge “ecological green lung” that outlines the beautiful vision of “aquatic kirin”.
The Kirin Wetland For Vanke Town is not only an architectural masterpiece but also an important new city landmark. It is like an urban active museum integrating an ecological art museum, water concert hall, and visitor reception center. This design was awarded Platinum in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, recognizing its world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative design that contributes to societal wellbeing.
